SEDD intensifies inspection campaigns before Eid Al Fitr

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” announced its full readiness to intensively inspect markets in Sharjah during Eid Al Fitr occasion by adopting precautionary measures in its procedures. Such inspection campaigns falls within SEDD’s plans to secure the emirate's markets and ensure the safety of all economic practices. The inspection campaigns carried out included all food service establishments, retail sales, men's and women's salons, gold markets, and all other economic establishments which activities are related to the Eid season.

These campaigns come within SEDD’s concerns to protect consumers and to ensure safety of Sharjah markets. Also, it comes in line with the Department's strategic objectives to contribute to achieving and leading the comprehensive economic development in the emirate. In addition, SEDD focuses on confirming that all economic establishments operating in the emirate adhere to all applicable obligations and laws in order to provide the best services to the consumer and to ensure that only approved goods that meet terms and conditions are promoted. It should be noted that the campaigns included various cities and regions of the Emirate of Sharjah to ensure the safety of all economic practices in the markets during Eid Al Fitr.

From his side, HE Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, stressed that the Department is working according to its plans to secure the emirate’s markets and ensure the safety of all economic practices through its inspection campaigns. HE added that such campaigns included all food service establishments, retail sales, men’s and women’s salons, gold markets, in addition to all other economic establishments that are popular during Eid Al Fitr, in order to ensure the compliance of all economic establishments.

Furthermore, HE added that these campaigns come within SEDD’s strategic objectives to protect consumers and its interest in the safety of Sharjah's markets. This will contribute to achieving and leading comprehensive economic development in the emirate, providing the best services to consumers and investors, and ensuring that goods are not promoted and sold that do not meet the relevant terms and conditions. It is worth mentioning that the inspection campaigns covered all various cities and regions of the Emirate of Sharjah.

From his side, Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director of Control and Commercial Protection Department at SEDD, said that the Department has intensified its field visits and inspection tours to the emirate’s markets, which included a number of major markets. Such campaigns were done to introduce traders and sellers to the necessity of developing lists explaining product prices, and directing advice and guidance on the importance of compliance with laws. Likely, they were done to ensure consumer knowledge about the value of consumer goods. In addition, Al Suwaidi stressed that it is important to adhere to clarifying the price to the consumer before purchasing to prevent any excesses in the sale process.

Likely, Al Suwaidi added that SEDD intensified its efforts through the visits to barbershops and beauty centers due to the high demand to such shops during this period. He stressed that the inspection campaigns on shops will continue during the three days of Eid to ensure the safety of all economic practices. All of this fall within the context of active participation in controlling markets and ensuring rights in order to take necessary actions.
