SEDD organizes series of Workshops in Economic Fields

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” organized number of workshops to introduce Sharjah’s economy and to highlight means of running business for number of educational entities. This came within its concerns to spread culture of economy, creativity and entrepreneurship among school and university students while they are still studying. Also, it sought to motivate students to enter the world of entrepreneurship and encourage them to implement their innovative projects. Likewise, these workshops enable students to unleash their energies and creativity to contribute effectively to serving their country and provide them with all material and moral facilities and capabilities to implement these pioneering projects on the ground.

SEDD gave a workshop for the students of the College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Sharjah, and to the students of the American School of Creative Science. Such thing was done to strengthen sustainable entrepreneurship system in Sharjah, and contribute to providing opportunities for innovation and growth. Also, it helps in building the capacities of ambitious entrepreneurs, qualifying students to enter into entrepreneurial projects and investing in the idea, skill, talent and experience and turning it into a successful project.

Furthermore, The workshop focused on the procedures for obtaining licenses, activities and permits issued by SEDD. Also, it highlighted the and main steps to start launching an entrepreneurial project, and the sound foundations for launching into the world of entrepreneurship. This can be attained through learning and acquiring the qualities that characterize the entrepreneur, in addition to the knowledge of all the information and numbers related to the activity in which the project falls.

Moreover, the workshop covered many topics, including finding the right idea, discovering opportunities in the market, typical steps to start establishing a business, preliminary and financial planning to study the feasibility of the project, in addition to discussing the implementation accelerators and the successful establishment and opening of the project.

Commenting on that, Abdelaziz Omar Al Midfa, Deputy Director of Government Communication Department at SEDD, stressed the importance of entrepreneurship and its contribution to the economic sector and providing job opportunities in the emirate. He explained that entrepreneurship requires many qualities, including boldness in decision-making, desire and determination to succeed, and self-reliance.

Al Midfa added that the Department is keen on continuing to provide courses and workshops aimed at all segments of Emirati society and youth, and for business owners, and to diversify them in line with their projects and the changes taking place in the economic arena. This will contributes to the consolidation of the strategic vision of the Sharjah, which aims to advance innovation and achieve a positive impact.

Likely, Al Midfa pointed out that the organization of the workshops comes within SEDD’s concerns to communicate with all educational bodies, to implement a series of advanced training workshops to contribute to strengthening the vital role of entrepreneurs and giving them motivation to move forward in establishing their own projects.

Majd Hussain, Principal of The American School of Creative Science, said that the school was honored to host Sharjah Economic Development Department on 17th of November 2022 to raise awareness of our senior students about the economic issues and relate it to UAE economy. Our students showed a high level of economic education and terminology since starting grade 10 the school offers courses that enrich and equip our students with the knowledge needed for our contemporary market. Further practical sessions will be held shortly at our premises in cooperation with SEDD to increase the knowledge of our students.
