SEDD organizes “Global Entrepreneurship Week”

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” and Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurship "RUWAD" organized an event to celebrate “Global Entrepreneurship Week”. A panel discussion entitled "Future Pioneers" was held, during which the specifications of the entrepreneur, the steps for success in implementing private projects, and the areas of support provided by the Government of Sharjah to the economic sector and motivating young people to enter the world of entrepreneurship were introduced.

During the discussion, the presenters emphasized on the importance of entrepreneurship and its contribution to the economic sector and job formation. Also, many examples of success stories and experiences were presented, including a presentation of two projects of successful entrepreneurs in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Likewise, several topics were discussed including main challenges facing the entrepreneurship community and ways to overcome them, and advice provided to entrepreneurs who wish to start their own businesses, which could contribute to the success of their projects. In addition, the participants highlighted the factors that contribute to the development of projects, with the aim of strengthening the sustainable entrepreneurship system in Sharjah, contributing to providing opportunities for innovation and growth, and building the capabilities of aspiring entrepreneurs.

HE Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, praised the wise leadership’s directives and the government’s provision of an attractive environment for entrepreneurs and project owners, by providing scientific and practical training bases for entrepreneurs, marketing platforms and institutions concerned with their innovation, and providing them with all the elements of success. Also, HE explained that entrepreneurship requires many qualities, including the courage to make decisions, the desire and determination to succeed and self-reliance.

In addition, HE said that the Emirate of Sharjah holds many elements that enable it to build an integrated business system, to make strong economic relations worldwide, and to establish partnerships in various sectors. This has contributed to providing a solid foundation for aspiring entrepreneurs, to expand into global markets, and access to venture capitalists in emerging economic fields.

HE added that the workshop came within SEDD’s efforts to enhance the emirate's position on the global entrepreneurship map, and to contribute to the consolidation of its strategic vision, aimed at advancing innovation and achieving positive impact. He pointed out that SEDD, represented by "RUWAD", has enabled entrepreneurs to establish companies that are able to compete globally in vital market sectors, and achieve growth and success in various fields.

On the other hand, HE Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Managing Director of “RUWAD”, the Department’s initiative to organize the workshop. He pointed out that entrepreneurship sector is an important one to strengthen and diversify the national and local economy. He illustrated that small and medium-sized companies, especially Emirati ones, are a qualitative tributary that provides added value to the market through the services they provide.

In addition, Al Mahmoud clarified that the Foundation, during the year 2020 and the current year, succeeded in activating its continuous communication with its member projects during the pandemic and standing with it to overcome its effects and repercussions. He continued that Emirati male and female entrepreneurs have proven that opportunities are always greater than risks, and that managing projects with tact, flexibility and positivity is the best gateway to overcoming challenges.

Likely, he called Emirati entrepreneurs in Sharjah to join the Foundation's membership to benefit from the package of benefits and facilities that members receive, as well as training programs, professional diploma programs, and consulting services, in addition to financing services.
