SEDD receives Gold Award for Best Inspiring Workplace

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” received the gold category award for Best Inspiring Workplace within the Certified People First™ accreditation. Such achievement embodies SEDD’s commitment to promoting a positive work environment and supporting human capital in accordance with best global practices. The People First™ accreditation program is a newly implemented program in the region, granted by Inspiring Workplaces international organization, an accredited body based in United Kingdom. Thus, the Department is proud to be one of the first government entities in UAE and the region to obtain this accreditation, which gives it a competitive advantage and clear leadership at the national and regional levels in the field of work environment.

Global Assessment Background

The People First™ accreditation program is based on a comprehensive global framework for assessing workplaces, covering six key areas, which are assessed through a comprehensive employee survey and a thorough analysis of the level of organizational maturity, including positive leadership, employee wellbeing, motivation and belonging, internal communication and engagement, innovation and work behaviors, job fairness and transparency.

It should be noted that SEDD’s achievement of the gold category in the Best Inspiring Workplace certification is the result of integrated efforts focused on establishing a culture of positive work and promoting an environment that stimulates innovation and participation. Also, SEDD carries on its role to develop its policies and practices to ensure the highest levels of job satisfaction and institutional performance, in line with the Sharjah Government’s orientations for excellence and quality of work life.

On this occasion, HE Hamad Ali Abdulla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman and Member of the Sharjah Executive Council, affirmed that this achievement reflects the Department’s strategic vision of investing in human capital, noting that an inspiring workplace is a fundamental pillar for achieving institutional sustainability and enhancing the efficiency of services provided.

HE added: “At SEDD, we believe that human capital is the main driver of excellence, and this achievement is the result of an integrated approach that focuses on developing and motivating employees, and providing a supportive work environment that contributes to unleashing their creative energies and achieving the best results.”

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al Ali, Deputy Director of Strategic Planning and Performance Department, explained that achieving the gold category was a result of implementing best practices in human resources management and aligning strategic plans with corporate performance indicators.

Also, Al Ali said: “SEDD pays great attention to provide a flexible and motivating work system based on innovation, promoting job balance, and enhancing employee experience, which positively impacts performance quality and the achievement of the Department’s strategic objectives.”
