SEDD, EPA study Effective Cooperation
Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” received a delegation from Emirates Publishers Association “EPA” to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two parties. The delegation was received by HE Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman and Member of Sharjah Executive Council, in the presence of several SEDD officials. The visiting delegation was headed by HE Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of EPA, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the two parties and mutual initiatives that would support the publishing industry and develop the cultural and knowledge sector.
At the beginning of the meeting, HE Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman, welcomed the visiting delegation, stressing the need to hold such meetings periodically, given their significant role in enhancing coordination between the two sides and accelerating development processes. Also, HE pointed out that the Department encourages economic investments and supports self-employment within the emirate. Likely, HE explained that all the processes adopted and applied to run business in Sharjah help create an attractive environment for investments, given the emirate's infrastructure, facilities, services and amenities, thanks to the cooperation of government agencies in Sharjah, to provide all support to investors. Additionally, HE illustrated that SEDD succeeded in reducing the time required to complete licenses and various transactions through several measures it has taken to develop services to meet the highest international quality standards.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed several common issues that serve the public interest, exchanging ideas on some of the procedures in place. The delegation also learned about the structure and work strategy followed in common areas, in addition to the latest technologies and solutions used by the Department. The two sides also discussed common issues and mechanisms and ways to enhance cooperation.
Moreover, HE praised the ongoing communication between the two sides and the prominent role they play in serving the emirate. Likewise, he emphasized on the Department's commitment to enhance institutional competitiveness and achieve comprehensive sustainable development in line with the local government strategy, achieving common goals that serve the public interest, and strengthening cooperation to contribute to promoting and advancing the performance of the national economy, strengthening the competitiveness of various economic sectors, and creating an environment that encourages investment, which in turn contributes to raising the emirate's attractiveness to attract more businesses.
By the end of the meeting, both parties highlighted the importance of enhancing future cooperation in line with the government service standards sought by the federal and local governments.
