4/14/26

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” announced the launch of its 2026-2028 strategy at its 22nd Annual Ceremony that was held at Al Jawaher Reception & Convention Centre. This strategic plan aims at achieving a diversified and sustainable competitive economy that falls within SEDD’s mission to attain comprehensive development and create a competitive business environment in the emirate, in line with future trends and Sharjah’s vision aimed at accomplishing competitive and sustainable economic growth.

The new strategic plan embraced a set of institutional values that form the basis for implementing strategic directions, most notably transparency and governance, sustainability and trust, innovation and proactivity, along with competitiveness and entrepreneurial thinking, in order to ensure the achievement of institutional excellence and raising the level of performance.

In addition, the strategic plan focuses on four strategic objectives, the first one is related to competitive and attractive investment-oriented economic growth, which works to enhance Sharjah’s position as a preferred destination for investors by attracting more quality projects in vital sectors, and developing a flexible, stimulating economic environment capable of competing regionally and globally.

The second objective focuses on creating a safe and sustainable business environment by providing an integrated framework that ensures the stability and continuity of economic activities. This can be accomplished through an integrated regulatory and legislative system that protects consumers and investors, and promotes sustainability in the business environment, while achieving a balance between economic growth, preserving resources and adhering to regulatory standards.

Then, the third objective was concerned about providing flexible, innovative, and proactive services that focuses on adopting smart service models that anticipate and efficiently meet the needs of the business community. Also, these models are created in a way that reflect a culture of innovation in providing government services, supported by digital infrastructure, integration between systems, and effective partnerships with various governmental and private entities to raise the efficiency of government services in line with Sharjah’s policy to improve customer experience and Sharjah’s Digital Transformation Strategy 2026-2028.

The plan also includes a set of quality initiatives aimed at facilitating procedures and improving customer experience, in addition to adopting the latest technologies and digital solutions that contribute to providing an exceptional experience for customers and investors in the emirate.

Likely, the four objective of the plan focuses on building a leading and distinguished institutional framework that enables the Department to achieve operational efficiency and strategic sustainability. This objective emphasizes enhancing human capital capabilities, leading in digital technologies, and strengthening governance, transparency, and innovation in resource management, thereby ensuring the highest levels of readiness and institutional excellence.

It should be noted that SEDD confirmed that this plan was prepared according to an integrated methodology based on an analysis of the economic reality and anticipation of future opportunities, with a focus on innovation and sustainability as two fundamental pillars in achieving the desired goals.

Commenting on the launch of 2026-2028 strategy, HE Hamad Ali Abdulla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman and Member of Executive Council, affirmed that the Department’s strategy is based on the vision of HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the directives of HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council, which stem from the Emirate’s orientations to focusing on economic and social development, enhancing financial sustainability and stimulating the macroeconomy.

The strategy also comes in response to economic changes, aligns with developments, and contributes to overcoming the challenges posed by the next phase, thus ensuring the establishment of an integrated vision that will serve as an economic roadmap for the emirate in the coming years. Likely, the new strategy is a continuation of the Department’s success story in making Sharjah a global economic destination, especially as the emirate is currently witnessing a great renaissance in all fields. HE also stressed that 2026-2028 strategy confirms SEDD’s commitment to the strategic planning approach and to align its plan with the local and federal government plans to achieve the leadership’s vision of strengthening the business community in a way that fulfills the aspirations of citizens and residents from an economic perspective, as it is an engine for sustainable economic development in the emirate.
