Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” organized “Little Economist” program, a training program dedicated to the children of the Department’s employees, which aims to develop their skills and enhance their awareness of economic concepts in a simplified interactive manner that suits their age groups.
Such program was held in coincidence with Year of Family, which emphasizes strengthening family bonds by involving employees' children and introducing values of discipline, responsibility, and respect in them. It also aims to familiarize family members with the importance of work and professional commitment. Furthermore, it seeks to create a corporate environment that encourages interaction and communication between work and family.
Commenting on this program, Noura Al Zarouni, Director of Support Services Department at SEDD, stated that organizing the program for the second year reflects SEDD’s commitment to strengthening its community role. Also, she noted that investing in developing the capabilities of young people is an extension of the Department's vision to build an integrated work environment that cares for both employees and their families. In addition, Al Zarouni added that the Department is also keen to instill economic literacy in young people and introduce them to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, saving, and financial planning, thus contributing to the development of a conscious generation capable of anticipating the future and actively participating in the economic development process.
Furthermore, Al Zarouni emphasized that the program included a series of workshops and practical activities that focused on developing creative thinking and teamwork skills, in addition to introducing participants to the business environment and its importance in supporting the local economy.
Moreover, Al Zarouni said “Through the “Little Economist” program, we seek to instill positive economic values in children from an early age, and enable them to acquire practical skills that contribute to shaping their personalities and enhancing their spirit of initiative, in line with the Emirate’s directions in preparing generations capable of supporting the national economy.”
