SEDD, TBHF work on Enhancing Social Responsibility

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” cooperates with The Big Heart Foundation “TBHF” to enhance its social responsibility by contributing to the Big Heart Educational Center project, to empower needy children and young people, and provide them with the opportunity to acquire basic educational and life skills.

This initiative falls within SEDD’s concerns to achieve the principle of community partnership and improve all aspects of comprehensive and sustainable development in the emirate, in addition to its role in building a leading model in the field of social responsibility.

Commenting on that, Abdelaziz Omar Al Midfa, Director of Government Communication Department at SEDD, emphasized that the Department has enhanced its role and practices towards the community through its contribution to the Big Heart Educational Centre project at the Big Heart Foundation by launching and supporting humanitarian and educational initiatives, and contributing to addressing illiteracy among children of families residing in UAE, whose countries’ circumstances did not allow them the opportunity to enroll in school or keep up with the academic levels. Also, he pointed out that such initiative embodies the Emirati society culture in solidarity, cooperation and standing with every needy person, especially when it comes to education, which is an engine for the growth and renaissance of societies, and a fundamental factor in their progress and stability.

Al Midfa added that SEDD contributes through this initiative to spreading awareness of social responsibility and supporting and motivating the business sector to participate effectively in social responsibility practices. This goes in line with the priorities and goals of sustainable development and the forward-looking vision for UAE future that is based on the participatory economy and knowledge society, leading to contributing to supporting UAE Centennial 2071 goals in terms of building a more cohesive society by consolidating the values of tolerance and employing all human energies in the areas of solidarity and cooperation.

It should be noted that the Big Heart Educational Center provides the best educational solutions and practices to empower children, adolescents and young adults residing in UAE. It has more than 200 students of different nationalities from Pakistan, Syria, Comoros and others. The Center also embraces students who have completed their secondary education and have not had the opportunity to enroll in colleges and universities to complete their studies, or young people who have exceeded the age of enrollment in school. Additionally, it offers innovative educational and rehabilitation programs that meet the educational, social and psychological needs of youth and children, with the aim of enhancing their potential, developing their abilities and skills, and achieving a positive impact in their lives, to obtain the best opportunities and enable them to join the labor market.
