SEDD, LSDA discuss Cooperation in Several Fields
HE Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” received HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority “LSDA” and his accompanied delegation at SEDD headquarter in the presence of officials from the Department.
At the beginning of the meeting, HE SEDD Chairman welcomed the delegation, stressing the importance of holding such meetings that would enhance cooperation and coordination between the two sides to unify efforts and accelerate the implementation and completion of projects of common interest. Then, SEDD reviewed structure and work strategy followed in mutual fields. Later on, the two parties discussed common issues and mechanisms and ways to enhance this cooperation in order to provide all possibilities for the business sector, investors and dealers, and contribute to achieving sustainable economic development in a way that serves all sectors in Sharjah in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership in the emirate.
In addition, HE Al Mahmoud stated that SEDD is keen to enhance its constructive cooperation with the Labor Standards Development Authority, noting the level of cooperation between the two sides in several areas in order to unify and integrate the efforts in a way that keeps pace with the economic development witnessed by the emirate and serves the efforts of comprehensive and sustainable development.
From his side, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, LSDA Chairman, pointed out that such meeting comes within the Authority’s plan to enhance institutional integration between government agencies in Sharjah. HE also explained that presenting the Sharjah Standard for Workers’ Housing project to our strategic partners represents an important step in maturing the standard for the purpose of developing the labor market in the emirate, as such unique project in the region aims to unify standards and encourage employers to improve the specifications of workers’ housing according to gradual procedures and realistic practices.
Likely, HE Chairman of “LSDA” added that the standard project reflects the wise directives of the leadership to provide a positive work environment that preserves the dignity of the workers and guarantees their rights. This can be attained through cooperation with SEDD whereby the Authority seeks to develop mechanisms for implementing the standard in a way that supports the sustainable economic growth of the emirate and enhances its competitiveness in attracting investments.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties stressed on the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the two parties, which would contribute to developing the mutual work system to achieve the comprehensive and sustainable development goals that the emirate aspires to, through strengthening cooperation and enhancing communication on an ongoing basis, which would benefit the community.
