This service enables license owners or their authorized representatives to make changes to trade name data, including changes to the economic activity or simply changes to the trade name.
Registration and Login: Investor must register on the SEDD’s website via UAE Pass.
Selecting “Trade Name Amendment” Service: Investor must select trade name, activity and attach the required documents as well as approvals form external parties.
Reviewing and Submitting Application: Investor must review the data and ensures its accuracy before submitting the application.
Notifications and Approvals: Investor will receive an SMS confirming receipt of the application. Messages are also sent to other investors to complete the approval process via UAE Pass.
Payment and Trade Name Amendment: A payment voucher will be issued, and trade name certificate will be sent automatically after successful payment of the required fees.
Notes: An application is submitted through service delivery channels and the transaction is carried out by SEDD employees.
Trade name must have an Arabic meaning, with the exception of:
• Names of branches of foreign companies registered abroad
• Names of branches of companies, whether local or foreign
Names that are not permitted to be registered:
• Names and attributes of “Allah”, unless they are compound personal names.
• Names of international companies (Brands), unless the name belongs to a branch thereof.
• Names of local, Arab, and international bodies, institutions, and organizations.
• Names that conflict with trademarks registered in the country, unless the applicant is authorized to use them.
• Names that conflict with public order and morals in the country.
• Names that are ambiguous or similar to registered names or that mislead the public.
• Names of countries and capitals.
Using or selecting names of important landmarks in UAE is not allowed:
for example: (UAE, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Burj Khalifa, Zabeel, Al Wasl). Also, they may not be chosen even if associated with (city or village).
The following names cannot be chosen:
Olympic - Union - Zulal- Al Arsa - Modern - New - Arabic - Al Qasba – Numbers – Letters- Old (Al Qadeem)
• Approval from external parties (some licenses require approval from external parties before issuing the trade name).
• Approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security for all investors of all nationalities holding a visit visa before issuing the trade name, with the exception of UAE and GCC citizens as well as residents in the country with a valid residence permit.
• A No Objection Letter (for non-locals) working for any government or federal entity in Sharjah from their employer, and a No Objection Letter for the investor (personal sponsorship) from SEDD.
• A trade permit for a minor under 18 from the court, if required.
• Declaration and pledge form (Qf-Cr-03-2) from the investor stating that he/she does not work for any government or federal entity in Sharjah if the investor has more than ten licenses (if required).
Required documents according to the legal form of the branch (Gulf branch / foreign branch / local branch) in addition to the main documents attached above:
• Certified copy of the trade license and register of main company according to legal status (Gulf branch / foreign branch). As for the local branch, a copy of company trade license and the register is required.
• Certified copy of the Memorandum of Association for main company and branches according to legal status (Gulf branch / foreign branch with legal translation). As for the local branch, a copy of company Memorandum of Association according to legal status is required.
• Board meeting minutes approving the opening of the branch according to the legal form (Gulf branch / foreign branch with legal translation).
• Agency Contract between Foreign Company and Certified Local Agent. (Legal Status: gulf branch/ foreign branch with its legal translation).
• No objection letter and approval to open the branch
Trade name amendment: AED 100
charges apply if the trade name is changed to a foreign or translated name as follows:
1. Translated trade name: AED 1100
2. Renewal of foreign trade name: AED 2100
