SEDD intensifies Inspection Campaigns for Eid Al Fitr

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” announces its full preparation for Eid Al Fitr by intensifying its inspection campaigns on economic establishments. This goes in line with its plans to secure the emirate’s markets and ensure the safety of all economic practices. SEDD inspection campaigns included all food service and retail establishments, associations, men’s and women’s salons, and gold markets, in addition to all other economic establishments whose activities are related to Eid season.

Commenting on that, HE Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman, said that these campaigns come in line with SEDD concerns to protect consumers and ensure markets safety. Also, they fall within the Departments strategic objectives to achieve a leading comprehensive economic development in Sharjah. HE carried on that the Economic Department in Sharjah is keen to ensure that all economic establishments operating in the emirate adhere to all applicable controls and provisions, provide the best services to the consumer, and guarantee that goods which do not meet their terms and conditions are not promoted and sold. The inspection campaigns were carried on various cities and regions in Sharjah, to ensure the safety of all economic practices in the markets coinciding with Eid Al Fitr.

Likely, HE illustrated that the Department intensified its inspection campaigns on number of major markets and commercial centers, to inform merchants and sellers of the necessity to provide a list indicating products and prices. In addition, the campaigns aimed at providing advice and guidance on the importance of adhering to the laws and ensuring the consumer’s knowledge of the value of goods. Also, HE stressed on the necessary to commit to clarifying the price to the consumer before purchasing to prevent any violations in the sales process.

From his side, Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director of Commercial Control and Protection Department at SEDD, said that the Department intensifies its inspection campaigns on barbershops and beauty centers and such campaign will continue during the three days of Eid in order to ensure that they implement all approved standards. Al Suwaidi also stressed on SEDD’s commitment to working with merchants and consumers to find a fair relationship between the two parties. Furthermore, he pointed out that the Department communicates, through all possible means, with consumers in the emirate’s markets, to raise their awareness and inform them of their basic rights, which are provided through platforms, websites, and ongoing field tours for this purpose, in addition to communicating with the merchants themselves and making them aware of their rights and duties.
