100% Emiratization Rate in Top Management

93% SEDD’s Emiratization Rate


Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” stressed on its seeks to attract national cadres which falls within its goals to raise the rate of Emiratization that reached 93% in 2018. Such goal falls raise within the wise directives of the leadership to provide suitable environment to support locals, improve skills and abilities of young leaders to lead in the future, and to innovate needed tools that will help to lead in the future.

Therefore, SEDD recruited of about 29 new employees in 2018. Such thing falls within its approach in seeking to provide the best possible service to its customers. Also, it falls with SEDD’s belief in the  importance to  continuously develop the highest level of satisfaction with the services provided by the Department to its customers.

Commenting on that, HE Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, stated that the Department pays great attention to Emiratization through its strategic plan. HE carried on that such concept is adopted in order to implement the wise directives of HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to pay attention to such area. Also, SEDD aims to attract the national human resources in all fields and functions according to a plan that is continuously being developed, while improving their skills through various training courses, as well as preparing and qualifying them to enable them to perform their tasks at the highest levels possible.

Furthermore, HE pointed out that the Department works continuously on attracting young cadres that have many capabilities and skills that will increase the level of work in the Department and provide the best services to the clients internally and externally. He also stressed that SEDD is constantly working to provide all the necessary needs for its employees to raise the level of work and quality in the interest of Emirate and country as well .

From his side, Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Director of Support Services Department, said that SEDD provides an ideal environment to support citizens and develop young leaders capable of leading in the future and dealing with the developed tools and technologies. He added that the Department offers a number of training programs, including leadership programs that aim to develop the skills, competencies and abilities of the administrative leadership in the Department to benefit from the leadership expertise and to transfer their knowledge and experience.

Al Mahmoud added that the percentage of Emiratisation reached 93% in 2018, of the total workforce in the Department. He also noted that the Department is working to motivate employees to complete their studies whereas the number of employees with a master's degree hit 10 ones, while the number of holders of the bachelor's degree was 7 employees. Also, the percentage of Emiratisation in the top management hit 100%, and the national employees in supervising positions was 96%. Likely, it is worth mentioning that the percentage of female employees in senior positions reached 38.

Moreover, Al Mahmoud stressed that the Department is keen on the importance of rehabilitating the future leaders in the Department through the launch of the programs to prepare future leaders during the past five years, whereas 6 batched were graduated with 93 employees. They have also been enrolled in external courses to complement the program in several countries including Spain, Singapore, Japan and South Korea. Practical training was added at the end of the program and field visits to learn about best practices in UAE too.
